Telephone

University offers Cisco VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) telephone service for all employees. All employees are provided with a ‘Cisco IP 8865’ desk phone and a softphone ‘Cisco Jabber Software’ on their GU-Q issued computers.

Employees are issued with a dedicated ‘direct dialing in’ (DDI) telephone number, for example, +974 4457 8100, the last four digits of the DDI are the employees’ extension number.

Cisco IP 8865 Desk Phone

The desk phone can be used to make and receive telephone calls and also offers features such as, built-in HD camera for video calls, speaker phone, 5″ colour widescreen, great microphone and programmable feature keys.

Cisco Jabber Software (Softphone) Phone

In addition to Cisco desk phones, the Cisco Jabber telephone software allows GU-Q employees to use the telephone service on their GU-Q issued Windows/Apple computers. Employees can also download the Cisco Jabber iOS and Android apps on their smartphones and sign in by typing in your NetID in the NetID@qatar.georgetown.edu format. Voicemail

You can access your voice messages directly from your desk phone and Jabber softphone. In addition, the voicemail audio file is also sent to your University email mailbox.

The Messages button on your phone acts as a speed dial into the voicemail system.

When you are not at your desk, you can check your voicemail messages by either using the Jabber app on your smartphone or by dialing the voicemail system +974 4457 8550 and following the instructions as below:

  1. Dial into the voicemail system +974 4457 8550
  2. Press * immediately
  3. Enter your four digit extension number followed by #
  4. Enter your voicemail PIN number followed by #
  5. Follow the prompt to listen, delete or save your voice messages
  6. To change welcome greetings , Press 4
