Classroom Technologies

The Georgetown University in Qatar continues to improve its learning spaces to ensure excellent standards for teaching and learning are maintained, by promoting the educational benefit of all classroom technologies. This includes systems such as Hybrid Learning, Zoom, lecture capture (Panopto), 4K projection, document camera and height adjustable lecterns that support latest presentation sources such as, HDMI, USB-C and wireless presentation. 

All Classrooms are equipped with identical AV systems and intuitive controls that allow for consistent and reliable user experience.


BenQ Interactive Smart Board

BenQ Interactive Displays are cutting-edge solutions designed to enhance collaboration and learning. These displays are installed in the university conference rooms and the Library study rooms, feature ultra-high-definition resolution, multi-touch capabilities, and intuitive interfaces for whiteboarding, screen sharing and Zoom meetings, making them ideal for interactive presentations and dynamic discussions.

The RPX classroom it’s an immersive room videoconferencing system where the system can capture the entire room view.

Video Conference

The University has a number of conferencing facilities including video conference, web conference, telepresence (RPX) and telephony conference. These facilities allow you to conduct virtual business meetings with counterparts, interviews with job applicants, run seminars or teaching sessions with anyone around the world that has an internet connection

This section deals with video conference and web-conference only.

Most meeting rooms and a number of classrooms has video conference facilities. When you book a room, make sure you select one that has video conference facilities. Submit a ticket to help.qatar.georgetown.edu:9443 for assistance in setting up and/or supporting your conference.

Some video conferencing setup will allow you to meet from the comfort of your office, home or hotel.

You will need the IP address of the other party

In lieu of a IP address, you can setup a Zoom meeting at: georgetown.zoom.us. Log-in with your NetID to setup a conference. You will need the email address of the parties you are connecting with in order to invite them to the conference.

A conference can be scheduled beforehand or on-the-spot. If you require AV team support, we appreciate that you make the schedule request beforehand.

Events

An event can be a simple session like a Lunch and Learn to a Public lecture to a complex Graduation ceremony.

The University holds events on a regular basis. These events range from private sessions like Lunch and Learn, Town Halls, Certification classes to public events like Public lectures to Roundtable discussions to Commencement ceremonies. Most events will require some form of AV technology support, oftentimes working in conjunction with Facilities team or 3rd party contractors.

 

Determine your needs and requirements. Basic guidelines will be to understand the intended objective of your event, type of event format, audience type and size, location of event, presenter(s) profile and requirement, type of AV technology needed, catering, reception, parking, security and other considerations. Plan and book your needs with the University’s Events department.

 

Most events require the following:

  • Audio input, routing and output
  • Presentation input, routing and output
  • Lighting
  • Video conferencing
  • Assistive listening
  • Translation
  • Recording
  • Streaming
  • Photography / Videography (Third party contractors)

Different event type, event location, audience size, sitting arrangements, interactivity and other considerations will lead to different ways of setting up and using AV technology. Some complex events will need 3rd party contractors. You are advised to meet with AV team prior to discuss and plan your AV technical requirements.

For a Simple event (basic AV support from 8am to 5pm weekdays) please put in a Help ticket at least 5 business days ahead .

For a Regular event ( additional support eg: microphones/media equipment, including weekends) please put in a Help ticket 10 days ahead.

For a Complex event ( large scale events with 100+ guests and extensive support) you will need to request at least 30 calendar days ahead.
